- Mina Starsiak married Stephen (Steve) Hawk on June 11, 2016 after years of dating.
- In August 2018, the couple had their first child, Jack Hawk.
- The Starsiak-Hawk family is ready to grow, but Mina recently shared it hasn't been easy.
With more than a decade of experience in the home-reno scene, Good Bones star Mina Starsiak shows no signs of slowing down, thanks to the continuous success of her HGTV show (plus, another one in the works!).
After discovering her passion of home renovations and helping launch Two Chicks and a Hammer, Mina went on to find the love of her life, Stephen (Steve) Hawk, and began building more than just houses. Throughout the years, the 31-year-old never forgets to thank her husband, Steve, and her son, Jack, for their love and support.
2013: Mina and Steve meet for the first time.
Although there are scarce details about when Mina and Steve exactly met, it’s a known fact that the two connected on Facebook after the Good Bones star noticed him, thanks to mutual friends. Unfortunately, their first date at a baseball game didn’t pan out the way Mina had hoped. "He ignored me all night," she told CountryLiving.com. "He let his friend hit on me!"
But after giving him a second chance and going through an initial difficult stage in their relationship, Steve was first spotted on Mina’s Instagram on July 2013. Later that fall, she made her debut on his Instagram wearing a baseball hat. From there, things got increasingly serious, and the duo attended their share of wedding parties together before tying the knot themselves.
2016: Mina and Steve get married.
By the time Mina and Steve began dating, the mother-daughter reno business, Two Chicks and a Hammer, had been up and running for a handful of years. Eventually, Steve became part of the process, even buying houses in Indianapolis that Mina could transform.
In 2014, Mina and her mom, Karen Laine, were approached by production company, High Noon Entertainment, to start their HGTV adventure with Good Bones. And to add to the exciting news, two months before the pilot episode was filmed, Steve proposed to Mina in March 2015.
After sending her on a scavenger hunt, he popped the question at the Indianapolis Colts' training field. The two officially became husband wife a year later on June 11, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The couple celebrated with 400 donuts (substituting a wedding cake) in the city's 1899 building.
2018: Mina gives birth to Jack Hawk.
In February 2018, Mina and Steve announced that they were expecting their first child—with the help of a clever movie poster. But before everyone was let in on the great news, Mina told Steve in an unexpected way, which involved bacon.
In her HGTV special, Mina’s Forever Home, the 31-year-old sat down with her husband to discuss the importance of their home when she gave him two baby slippers as a gift. Of course, HGTV captured the sweet moment, which was filled with tears of joy.
Jack Hawk was born in the early morning of August 9, 2018 and Good Bones fans couldn’t get enough of the photos shared. After only one week of giving birth, Mina was back to work with newborn Jack by her side, and whenever she filmed, Steve naturally took over with pride.
Today: The family is ready to grow again.
With Jack just shy of turning a year old, Mina shared on Instagram that she’s ready for a second baby to join the Hawk family, but that it hasn’t been easy. Currently, the reno expert is using Ava Women—a bracelet worn at night that aims to give insight into menstrual cycles, fertility, and pregnancy—to help conceive.
Fans praised her for being so open about an important topic that’s often kept private.
Professionally, Mina has been busier than ever. While Season 4 of Good Bones is airing every Tuesday on HGTV, Mina has wrapped up production on the new home renovation competition series, Rock the Block. Over the past four weeks, Mina competed against three other HGTV stars to design the best house on the block, and we're sure her family was cheering her on every step of the way.
