It's basically a piece of history.

An enormous piece of presidential history has officially hit the market in Massachusetts—340 whole acres of it. Jackie Kennedy's former estate in Martha's Vineyard—called the Red Gate Farm—has just been put on the market by her daughter, Caroline Kennedy, for $65 million.

Originally purchased in 1979 by Jackie O herself for just about $1 million, the oceanfront sanctuary covers an entire mile of the Atlantic coastline. It was renovated in 1980 and again in 2000, and currently has five bedrooms and five full bathrooms.

“Forty years ago, my mother fell in love with Martha’s Vineyard. When she found Red Gate Farm, it was a perfect expression of her romantic and adventurous spirit,” Caroline explained in a statement to Christie’s International Real Estate.

The main level of the former First Lady's 6,456 square foot main residence has a formal sitting room complete with a fireplace, drawing room, living room, family room, library, dining room, and an expansive chef's kitchen equipped with professional-grade appliances. There are two decks on the property, both facing the ocean. Every single room in the house, besides the dining room, overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

Also on the grounds is a two-floor guest home, complete with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, laundry room, and a kitchen.

Besides the two residences, the property also includes a fairy treehouse (which, rumor has it, Jackie built herself), pool, tennis court, exercise studio, vegetable garden, blueberry patch, hunting cabin, barn, boathouse, two garages, and storage building. What else could you possibly need?!

Red Gate Farm is being marketed globally by Christie’s International Real Estate, which is represented locally by Tom LeClair and Gery Conover, agents of LandVest, the exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate on Martha’s Vineyard.
